چکیده

We present a Wigner signed particles analysis of the lensegoverned electron state dynamics based on the quantitative theory of coherence reformulated in phase space terms. Electrostatic lenses are used for manipulating electron evolution and are therefore attractive for applications in novel engineering disciplines like entangletronics. The signed particle model of Wigner evolution enables physically intuitive insights into the processes maintaining coherence. Both, coherent processes and scattering-caused transitions to classical dynamics are unified by a scattering-aware particle model of the lense-controlled state evolution. Our approach bridges the fairly new theory of coherence with the Wigner signed particle method.

The Multi-Dimensional Transient Challenge: The Wigner Particle Approach

The Wigner equation is a full quantum mechanical, time dependent, multi-dimensional transport model which can include, in a natural way, the effects due to elastic, inelastic, and diffusive scattering centers [1]. The first attempts to simulate quantum transport by means of the Wigner formalism were built on finite difference methods and, as such, introduced serious problems in the numerical tr...

A signed particle formulation of non-relativistic quantum mechanics

A formulation of non-relativistic quantum mechanics in terms of Newtonian particles is presented in the shape of a set of three postulates. In this new theory, quantum systems are described by ensembles of signed particles which behave as field-less classical objects which carry a negative or positive sign and interact with an external potential by means of creation and annihilation events only...

A Non-Markovian Phase Space Approach to Schrödinger Dynamics: The Space-Time Wigner Transform

A phase space description of Schrödinger dynamics is provided in terms of a quantum kinetic formalism relying on the introduction of an appropriate extension of the well-known Wigner transform, also accounting for time delocalizations. This “space-time Wigner distribution,” built up in the framework of two-time correlation functions, is shown to be governed by a non-Markovian, integro-different...

Revealing virtual processes of a quantum Brownian particle in the phase space

The short time dynamics of a quantum Brownian particle in a harmonic potential is studied in the phase space. An exact non-Markovian analytic approach to calculate the time evolution of the Wigner function is presented. The dynamics of the Wigner function of an initially squeezed state is analyzed. It is shown that virtual exchanges of energy between the particle and the reservoir, characterizi...

Wigner quasi-particle attributes—An asymptotic perspective

Wigner quantum mechanics is reformulated in a discrete momentum space and analyzed within a Monte Carlo approach for solving integral equations and thus associated with a particle picture. General quantum phenomena may thereby be modeled in terms of quasi-particles involving attributes such as drift, generation, sign, and annihilation on a phase space grid. The model is examined in an ultimate ...
